Glamping

Yellowstone Under Canvas

I have a forever love affair with Montana and Wyoming. There's something about the landscape and the culture that makes me long for a more simple life. Last year for Jess' birthday, we stayed at Moab Under Canvas and since that was such a success I decided to do Yellowstone Under Canvas this year with Rach and Nate - it also happened to be Nate's birthday so we had double rad birthday vibes. The ratio of fun to photo-taking was actually much higher than on past trips and I'm not bummed about it. Sometimes you've gotta live an experience instead of capturing it.

**Side note: maybe don't attempt to rope four inner tubes together into a makeshift raft and go down a no-so-lazy river after a heavy rain season. You'll end up with a ton of bruises, capsizing twice, and losing your favorite tank top (however, the river at Under Canvas is legitimately lazy and you'll be just fine if you start there!).

Moab Utah

The more I live here, the more I feel like I'm cheating on California beacuse I fall more and more in love with Utah every day. Oh don't get me wrong - California is my one true love, but I feel there's room in my heart for another (insert polygamy jokes here). Welcome to Moab - a magical pegasus town that is home to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

I wanted to go big for Jess' 35th birthday, so I gathered 9 of our closest SLC friends and we booked a sweet set of teepees and tents at Moab Under Canvas. Let's not kid ourselves, it cannot even be called camping...but regardless of what you call it - it's just flat out amazing. Hot running water, shower, and flushing toilet IN OUR TENT. A view of the entire Arches National Park from our porch. And the staff are the nicest people I've ever met...

This trip was equal parts inspiring and tiring. I am not sure I'll ever attempt to cook and cater for 11 people in a camp setting again, but my love for design, good food, and this top shelf white man compel me to do crazy things sometimes.
